Beach Ride at Penfield Beach: Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM
Meet at 323 Fairfield Beach Rd in Fairfield. Use the parking lot across from the beach. We are riding out promptly at 10 AM to catch the low tide so plan to arrive accordingly. Ride the beach and sandbars for a unique experience. If you are a newbie at beach riding, this is a good opportunity to come because there will be experienced riders and horses to show you the ropes. Bring a snack to enjoy afterwards. This event  is exclusively for NBLA members.

All Member Annual Meeting – Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 6:30 PM
Location: The Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson St., Newtown (Fairfield Hills Campus).
All NBLA members are invited to attend our annual meeting. Learn about our plans for 2023, meet your fellow members and enjoy a meal. We’ll also have a tag sale, NBLA merchandise, and a few vendors. Renew your membership for 2023 at this event. Individual memberships are $45, family memberships are $75 and barn memberships are $125. Cash, check or credit card all accepted. If you are not a member but would like to join, you may do so at this event.

Saturday April 22- Show and Go ride at Huntington State Park. Leave from Shelby McChord’s house on Greenleaf Farms Rd at 10 am. Two groups: walk only and a faster group. Hot lunch served after.

Sunday May 7- Spring Trail Ride at 2GHG. NBLA will offer an optional Challenge Course.

Tuesday May 16- Glue on shoes- are they a viable option for your horse? Farrier Lemonia Fotinos discusses the pros and cons and how they compare to traditional shoes and barefoot.

Tuesday June 20- All about camping with your horse. Presentation by Shelby McChord. Where to go, what to bring. Horse camping will open up a whole new world for you!

July : The NBLA will be participating in the annual CVH Animal Sanctuary’s “All About Horses” event.

Friday August 18- At 6 pm- Hands on clinic, topic TBD. To be held at 6 PM at Happy Trails Farm in Danbury, followed by a cowboy dinner.

Sunday September 17– Show and Go Ride through Cherry Grove Preserve and the Fosdick Preserve. Meet on Willow Brook Lane.

Tuesday October 17- Roseanna Rogers will discuss estate planning for the horse owner. How to ensure your horse will be well cared for after you are gone.

Sunday October 29– The annual Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace!

Registration is now open for the historic Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace to take place on Sunday, October 29. We are happy to announce that we are bringing back a sit down hot lunch, live music, and vendors! The trails are groomed and ready. It will be a horse lovers day! Costumes are encouraged! Tuesday November 14– Learn from a local veterinarian about preparing your horse for winter and avoiding laminitis, colic and other change of season issues.

Sunday December 10: Third Annual Jingle Bell Ride in Newtown. Deck yourself and your mount in holiday outfits and bells as we amble through Fairfield Hills along with the Second Company Governors Horse Guard.
